William James, the father of American psychology, said, “The power to move the world is in your subconscious mind.” Why is this so?
The answer to the incredible power of the subconscious mind lies in the fact that all attitudes, perceptions, judgments, feelings, emotions, beliefs, conclusions, and your self-image all reside in your subconscious mind, and the best way to reach your subconscious mind is through what is known as alpha state.
One of the issues with the subconscious mind is that it can be programmed and always is when we are children. For the most part, all conditions are set in the subconscious mind during childhood and are the determiners of a person’s entire life. Furthermore, they do not change unless something very deliberate or substantial happens to do so. The problem this creates is that this programming can last for your entire lifetime. So, in effect, a person’s life is being controlled by perceptions and conclusions from childhood.
How Alpha Mind Power Works
Fortunately, childhood subconscious programming can be remedied through use of alpha mind power. Alpha refers to a state in which brain waves run at a slightly lower frequency level than the fully alert state. This alpha state gives direct access to the subconscious mind and it naturally happens to us when we are daydreaming, watching a movie, and sometimes when listening to music. Advertisers know this which is why TV and radio programs are broken into short segments followed by ads which affect those watching and listening at a subconscious level. Alpha state is also attained deliberately through relaxation and visualization techniques. Just think of what this means. Through using alpha mind power access to your subconscious mind can positively program your subconscious to work for you rather than against you.
What are the Big Determiners of Your Success?
Success at anything comes from 4 factors:
1. Desire
2. A Positive Self-Image
3. Enthusiasm
4. Persistence
No matter where you are starting from or where you would like to go if you incorporate those four factors you will succeed. I will assume you have the desire to better your life or you would not be reading this article. Factor number 2, a positive self-image, is where we need to put our attention next because the self-image is housed in the subconscious mind and in a few minutes I’ll show you how to access it utilizing alpha mind power.
Who is in Charge of Your Life?
Your self-image, the image that you have of yourself, and the image of the success you wish to achieve must be in agreement. It is not sufficient to wish or want something without having a corresponding positive outlook to know you can achieve it. In addition, if you have a positive desire but have lingering doubts, questions about your worthiness, fears of failure, and other negative traits, your efforts will be undermined. Whenever there is a conflict between a conscious desire and a subconscious counter program, the subconscious usually wins. Your subconscious mind is what is controlling your life.
How to Determine Your Self-Image
Are you a piano player? Are you a public speaker? Are you a writer? Are you a creative person? Are you right-handed or left-handed? If you answered no to any of those questions I’d like you to reconsider. If I asked the questions another way such as can you write a letter? You would most likely answer yes even if you answered no when I asked if you are a writer. If I asked you if you could go to a piano and bang out a few notes you would no doubt answered yes. If I asked you to do your best at writing your name with the opposite hand you would be able to do so. If I asked you if you have ever spoken with more than one person listening you’d no doubt say yes. So the answers to the questions are really about degree and about interpretation.
How much do you limit yourself by saying, “I can’t,” or being told by others that your plan will not work? Now let’s suppose you could recalibrate your inner beliefs so that when you hear an inner voice say you cannot achieve something, or someone else says to you that you can’t, or someone says the markets are bad, or times are bad, you automatically respond, “Cancel. Does not compute!” In fact, what if you totally rejected the negative input and replaced it with a positive outlook? The point I’m trying to make here is that you have been programmed to have limitations, and the boundary of your limits is your self-image or self-concept and you have the power to change it.
Alpha Mind Power to the Rescue
Our life starts off like a glass of clear water, and all sorts of people add their mud to it. This includes our parents, teachers, clergy, television, radio, newspapers, Internet, friends, and others we may overhear. In order for us to grow, we must remove the mud, and stop accepting the limitations that have been placed on us by others. Your objective is to become positively inner directed by establishing positive beliefs and outlooks through alpha mind power.
Since the alpha state is an ideal state in which to reach the subconscious mind, and it is easily reached by entering a relaxed state, I would now like to show you how that is done. The first part of this process includes relaxing you to slow down your brain waves a little and help you enter the alpha state. You will feel completely natural and comfortable doing this, as you most likely enter the alpha state numerous times throughout the day without you even realizing it.
1. Select a place and time when you won’t be disturbed for at least 15 minutes.
2. Do this process sitting in a comfortable chair with your feet on the floor.
3. Be sure the temperature is comfortable and cover yourself with a blanket if necessary.
4. Loosen any tight clothing.
5. Lower the lights.
6. Begin with a deep breath in through your nose; hold it for an instant, and then exhale through your mouth.
7. As you do this feel yourself relaxing.
8. Say to yourself, “I am still and relaxed,” Feel yourself letting go and relaxing.
9. Let your breathing become calm and regular.
10. If there is any area in your body that feels uncomfortable, rearrange yourself so you are as comfortable as possible.
11. Acknowledge your body and muscles are relaxed.
12. Repeat to yourself, “I am tranquil and serene.”
13. Let yourself float gently in peaceful stillness.
14. Now bring to mind any fear, worry, or concern.
15. Select two or three words that describe your concern.
16. Now say in your mind the word “cancel” three times.
17. Repeat to yourself, “I am peaceful and secure.”
18. Continue repeating the following positive affirmations:
- I feel safe and secure.
- I feel confident of my decision.
- I believe in myself.
- Life is good to me.
- Things go my way.
- I attract and create happiness.
- I choose freedom from worry.
- I feel good about myself.
- I face all situations with calm confidence.
- My life is worthwhile.
- I have inner peace.
- I think good thoughts about myself.
- I look forward to my future with optimism.
- My life has unlimited possibilities.
Each and every time you repeat this alpha mind power process you will become more free of fear and worry and become more empowered.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale out through your mouth. And returned to a full alert and aware state. Say to yourself, “I am fully clear, alert, and aware.”
Remember that you have acquired many thought habits that are part of your self-image over a period of many years. The session you have just gone through works remarkably well at reversing this process. Many people are surprised just how fast it does work. The more seriously you apply yourself to doing it, the better it will work for you. Life does become easier as you clear away the blocks distractions and negative fixations.
